2 Corinthians 5:17 (TLB)
When someone becomes a Christian, he becomes a brand new person inside. He is not the same anymore. A new life has begun.
You might think this Christmas greeting is late, but I planned it this way. According to what the Lord placed on my heart, I rather believe its perfect timing!
JEREMY, SUSAN, CONNOR, & LENA-BELLE
Those are two of my favorite words. In fact, we put up our Christmas decorations close to a week before Thanksgiving each year, and we take them down around a week after New Year’s. My mom tries to tell me that “less is more” but I believe “more is more.” It’s easy to decorate, but the challenge to take the decorations down and store them for another year can be quite depressing and exhausting.
During the Christmas Season, there’s a buzz and a jolly spirit in most people. Everyone is rushing around, decorating, going to parties, and enjoying simple moments that become traditions treasured each year. The peak of my family’s excitement usually takes place Christmas Eve (or a couple of days prior). We love to go shopping together Christmas Eve and attend a Highlands Christmas, the candlelight service our worship home has each year to celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ.
The truth is, we don’t have to be gloomy when it’s time to put away the Christmas decorations. We can simply delight in the Christmas Spirit every day by learning to celebrate CHRIST MORE each day. This year, I decided to leave up two of my Nativity Scenes to remind me that it’s o.k. to enjoy Christmas each and every day. Just because the season of our Lord’s birth has passed for another year doesn’t mean we don’t celebrate the Christ child every day.
Just as a child is expectant and anticipates the morning of Christmas, we should look at the close of the Christmas Season into the New Year with expectant hearts. The real gift of Christmas is the JOY of JESUS as our Savior. When we accepted Christ, we didn’t look at our “old life” and want to go back. Quite the opposite, we believed in our hearts that the JOY that was before us was far better, and we need not mourn the past. So as you are packing away the ornaments and garland, remember the fresh, clean, newness ahead. That’s enough to match the excitement of any Christmas I can remember. Why? Because our Lord has more awaiting us than we could ever hope for or imagine.
Merry Christmas and Happy 2013 friends! Enjoy the gifts of JESUS each and every day this year! With His PRESENCE the PRESENTS are obvious and abundant for all to unwrap each morning!
Thank you for your precious Son, Jesus Christ. Thank you for giving us a beautiful REASON to not only celebrates the season, but to celebrate the gift of each new day!
Thank you for giving us a brand new year to relish in the blessings you designed for us the day we were created! Let us not waste another second looking back to what was, but to embrace the beauty of WHO IS and WHO IS TO COME AGAIN!
