Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Then the LORD said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on.”
This past Sunday, we had the pleasure at Church of the Highlands to experience a remarkable guest pastor and friend of Senior Pastor Chris Hodges. Pastor Chris is currently on a break, so we have been given the opportunity to enjoy a season of an assortment of pastor influences.
This week, Pastor Steve Robinson of Church of the King in Mandeville, LA shared an exceptional and anointed message with our congregation. I was so moved by the message Robinson shared on Sunday, I decided to utilize his insight in my verse and message in the hope to encourage you when you are in the face of pressure.
We all experience times of pressure whether the source is from our own choices, or possibly the actions of another, or even a time when God allows pressure in our lives to build character in us. Robinson recommended four things to do when we are in a place of uncertainty and increased pressure:
1. FEAR NOT – “Fear not” is mentioned 366 times in Scripture, one for each day of the year plus one for “Leap Year!” Ha!
2. STAND STILL – Being still doesn’t mean being in a passive stance. Being still means to maintain a posture of expectancy. No matter what things look like in the natural, we are to STAND STILL but STAND IN FAITH. When we place our trust in God, the pressure transitions into FAITH IN GOD by believing in Him through His Word.
3. HOLD YOUR PEACE – We can be in the midst of a horrific storm, but we have the ability through the Lord to avoid that storm penetrating inside of us. Knowing that the Lord will fight for us and will command His angelic hosts to protect us will create a supernatural peace within that transcends all comprehension.
4. GO FORWARD – We must step out in faith no matter what we feel. God is on our side. He doesn’t play games with us. “The water doesn’t part until you step out in faith.”
Thank you for your beautiful Promises. It’s amazing that we can rest in confidence that you have our back. Give us more faith to believe this! When I am in a pressure cooker, don’t allow me to ask “Why?” Give me the wisdom to ask, “What next?”
In Your Beautiful Name,
