Verse and Message (Week of Feb 26-March 5, 2011) March 1, 2011

1 Corinthians 9:26-27 – I don’t know about you, but I’m running hard for the finish line. I’m giving it everything I’ve got. No sloppy living for me! I’m staying alert and in top condition. I’m not going to get caught napping, telling everyone else all about it and then missing out myself.

According to http://www.merriam-webster.com, the term CONSISTENT means to be marked by harmony, regularity, or steady continuity OR free from variation or contradiction.

“A consistent man believes in destiny, a capricious man in chance.” (Benjamin Disraeli)

“What, then, is the true Gospel of consistency? Change. Who is the really consistent man? The man who changes. Since change is the law of his being, he cannot be consistent if he stick in a rut?”(Mark Twain)

Not much in life comes easy. I think too many people expect things to come easy. However, we all have the ability to learn the gift of consistency. When we choose to be consistent in an area of our lives, consistency becomes consistent, and the matter becomes easier.

Truly NOTHING works without consistency………..

  • Health, nutrition, and fitness won’t work without consistency.
  • Finances won’t work without consistency.
  • Personal hygiene won’t work without consistency.
  • Housekeeping won’t work without consistency.
  • Good grades won’t work without consistency.
  • Relationships won’t work without consistency.
  • Spending time in prayer and reading HIS WORD won’t work without consistency.

ANYTHING THAT REQUIRES MAINTENANCE — PHYSICAL, MENTAL, EMOTIONAL, FINANCIAL, SPIRITUAL ETC. — WON’T WORK WITHOUT THE DETERMINATION TO BE CONSISTENT.

It takes 21 days to make or break a habit. That’s one of the reasons our church begins the year with 21 days of prayer and fasting. It’s an excellent technique for developing the necessary routine of going to the Lord in prayer each morning.

CONSISTENCY BEGINS WITH A THOUGHT FOLLOWED BY AN ACTION. WE CAN SPEAK OUR INTENTIONS UNTIL WE ARE BLUE IN THE FACE–BUT OUR THOUGHTS AND WORDS MUST BE TRANSFORMED INTO ACTION — CONSISTENT ACTION.

If you want others to see JESUS in YOU, CONSISTENCY is the KEY! Don’t waver, but consistently reflect the nature of JESUS in your words and actions, and others will be drawn to HIM through you. What a beautiful thing that OUR SAVIOR IS 100% CONSISTENT!

Father God,

Help me to be consistent in seeking Your Presence each day. Please give me the strength, wisdom, and self-control to succeed at being a consistent ambassador for your Kingdom. I pray others see YOU and not inconsistent me.

In Jesus Mighty Name,

AMEN

BE CONSISTENT IN HIM!
