Verse and Message (Jan 9-15, 2011) – Be Prepared January 12, 2011

2 Peter 3:8-9 (The Message)
Don’t overlook the obvious here, friends. With God, one day is as good as a thousand years, a thousand years as a day. God isn’t late with his promise as some measure lateness. He is restraining himself on account of you, holding back the End because he doesn’t want anyone lost. He’s giving everyone space and time to change.

I find it amusing how our community, city, and state prepare for inclement weather. This weekend was complete chaos all over town as people stocked up on bread, milk, firewood, and some even  invested in generators lest the power failed.

The signs were all there. The meteorologists enthusiastically announced details of the icy and hazardous forecast. Children excitedly await “school closing reports,” and the buzz was
all about snow.

Isn’t it interesting, that the signs are all there of the returning Messiah? Wouldn’t it be sweet if all were in a panic about spreading the Good News? Our pastors are the meteorologists exclaiming the inevitable arrival of the ONE as white as snow.

If we knew for sure that His appearance would be this week, I can only imagine the buzz that would occur. One thing is certain — He will appear, in the twinkling of an eye.

Have you committed your life to the “BREAD OF LIFE?” Let’s stop drinking milk as babies, and feed on the solid food of Christ. Preparation is the key, and sharing the GOOD NEWS is crucial, for the POWER on earth will go out soon. It’s not a matter of IF but WHEN He will come back. When the time comes for the Son to appear, “inclement weather” will be an understatement for those left behind. Let’s help reduce those numbers.

Father God,
Guide us to live our days in confident expectation of your Son’s return. Help us to recognize the time is near. May we number our days and share the GOOD NEWS of the Savior and His Beautiful Grace. It’s not a matter of IF but WHEN He will come. Thank you for loving us and giving your creation more time to prepare for His arrival.

He washes us white as snow!

  13. Rob Lagerstrom Says:

Nice analogy (or is it a metaphor?). People stock up on bread before storms. We should be stocking up on the bread of life daily since we don’t have Vipir radar forecasts for our personal storms.

    • susiemc Says:

Miss you so much during this 21 days of prayer and fasting. What memories we have on our knees at Highlands. Desperation is what it’s about….and the Lord has an AWAKENING designed for all of us! Thank you for your comment Rob…..and your encouragement is always GOLD to me! Hugs and Love
