Have a Blessed Memorial Day Weekend!
1 Corinthians 13:12
Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
1 Corinthians 15:55
“O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”
No matter where we are in life, whether our circumstances in life are peachy or not so great, whether we believe in Eternal Life with the Father or think that after this life there’s nothing—ALL humans have some form of anxiety or fear related to earthly death.  Even if we know our home with the Savior awaits us, we are more comfortable with what WE KNOW NOW, as opposed to the unknown mystery that awaits us.  So many times we fight against death and hold onto this “temporary” life with all our might.
We were made for Eternity…..
“You are not a human being in search of a spiritual experience. You are a spiritual being immersed in a human experience.” (Teilhard de Chardin)
There have been times in my life I have begged the Lord to take me.  There have also been times in my life I have exclaimed, “Lord please don’t take me now!”  After seeing the movie “Distant Thunder” at The First Baptist Church of Trussville in 7th Grade, I remember the fear that overwhelmed me regarding the rapture.  What if I was left behind?  You have never seen so many people at the altar that evening! Then, I remember praying one night…oh please Lord let me live at least until I graduate, get married, and have a baby and do this and do that……..
Lawrence Kimbrough describes it well in The One Minute Bible:
“Through no fault of our own, we’re so acclimated to this earth that at times the thought of Christ’s return makes us wish He’d hold off for a while.  We want to see our children marry.  We want to take our grandkids out for pizza.  We want to see our business flourish, get a home in the country, finally work our way up to a marathon, see the tulip bulbs bloom out in the spring, enjoy the only life that we know.  IF WE ONLY KNEW.”
IF WE ONLY KNEW….. We are but babes to the King…..His perspective is quite unique to ours…….our thoughts don’t even exist in the same realm as His thoughts.  Just as our thoughts are higher than a child’s, imagine the unfathomable knowledge and sovereignty of our Father.
If you have ever experienced a slice of heaven on earth…multiply that by 1,000,000,000,000,000….and you still won’t be able to grasp what it will be like after this life is over.  It’s exciting, yet difficult at times to consider, especially after losing a loved one to death.
I genuinely look forward to that “A HA” moment when I meet my Maker and finally see the BIG PICTURE.  Everything will be clear.  We will wonder why we ever wasted time on the enemy’s junk like resentment, bitterness, jealousy, fear, dread, worry, futile pursuits……IF WE ONLY KNEW!
WE WILL KNOW ONE DAY…and it doesn’t matter what day it is….because God’s timing is perfect.  He knows every hair on our head.  He makes no mistakes… when it is time……it is time.
We just need to be prepared and seek Him completely. If your salvation is sealed, there is no reason to fear death or His return. For those who put their faith in Christ, final death no longer exists. We simply transition through a passage of this life to our glorious home in heaven! YET, it’s our purpose to take as many of our friends and family members with us….and that is why we are still here. Finish the race strong my friends! Let’s fulfill the GREAT COMMISSION!
