One of the most profound promises in Scripture as well as one of my favorite verses is Romans 8:28. I accidentally discovered the following in my “Susie Mc Verse and Message” archives, but I assure you, it was no accident. I wanted to use this message as a “re-run” message this week. It’s a great reminder for many of us today. We must KNOW that our Lord is forever faithful, and He’s got it ALL worked out, no matter how things may appear in the natural.
The following message was written in July of 2006. For emphasis, I have edited and paraphrased the previous content.
I felt it upon my heart to utilize four translations of the following verse. I hope it will assist you in recognizing the significance in the application of the message to follow.
And, we KNOW that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.
That’s why we can be so SURE that every detail of our lives of love for God is worked into something good.
We are ASSURED and KNOW that [God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.
And we KNOW that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose.
So many times we read verses over and over and attempt to take the words in, but it’s like a kid memorizing vocabulary words. If we simply read and memorize and fail to apply and ponder its meaning, we will soon forget about it. The victory takes place when we claim the Promises in Jesus’ Name and choose to meditate and consume them into our soul and spirit — which is much more than merely reading or memorizing.
Our best defense against Satan arrives with genuine knowledge of Scripture, and when the Living Word of God is spoken and applied. We become “doers” of the Word. When we study and bury His Word in our hearts, we are prepared to face whatever comes our way. When we embrace The Word, we will know the TRUTH, and we will be able to recognize the lies of our enemy. Seeking to KNOW HIS TRUTH will align us with the Holy Spirit, and confidence and wisdom will penetrate our spirit.
Check out these wise words my buddy Chris Stewart offered to me one day as he dissected Romans 8:28…..
“When we think about Romans 8:28 and the three words that verse starts with, it’s easier to find that peace He provides. The verse doesn’t start out “Rumor has it,” “I heard through the grapevine,” or “Word on the street is…” Nope. It starts out “AND WE KNOW” not, “And we suspect.”
AND WE KNOW that in ALL THINGS He works to the good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. What is there that we can’t handle because of this knowledge?”
Examining that incredible verse allows me to recognize that my Lord wants nothing but the BEST for me. In order to receive His BEST, I must trust and KNOW HIM. If I know Scripture, THEN I KNOW MY SAVIOR! The best way to learn more about my Savior is by reading and meditating on His Word. He is the Word. I don’t have to doubt what is written, because the entire Bible was written by God…not by men….it was inspired by our Maker, only put on paper by vessels of obedient love.
The source of true love and peace is found in the Bible! Wouldn’t you think that in our desperate society more would be hungry to feed on those benefits? Once we start absorbing Scripture, it truly comes alive. Thanks to Chris Stewart for being a messenger of grace and for opening my eyes to a new revelation of Romans 8:28 — a true Rhema Word from the Lord!
AND WE KNOW!!
WE KNOW BECAUSE WE KNOW HIM!!
WE KNOW BECAUSE WE MEDITATE ON HIS WORD!!
TRUTH AND CONFIDENCE ARE OURS IN CHRIST BECAUSE WE KNOW!!
